The Best Kayak & Canoe Launch in Collingwood

Do you already own your own paddling equipment, but find yourself constantly searching for a safe, uncrowded place to put in on the South Georgian Bay? The Collingwood Paddling Club’s Basic Membership is the perfect solution for local paddling enthusiasts.
For a flat fee of just $50 for the entire season, this stand-alone membership grants you exclusive dock access privileges at the Watts Boathouse. Skip the crowded public beaches and use our professionally maintained docks to safely launch your personal kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) directly into the sheltered waters of the Collingwood Harbour.

A Vibrant Social Community

Beyond the dock access, this tier serves as our official social membership. Even if you aren’t racing on a team, the Basic Membership connects you to our amazing community of water-lovers. You will receive club newsletters and be invited to attend our end-of-season BBQs, social events, and community gatherings!

Guidelines for Personal Boat Launching

To ensure the safety of all our athletes and community members, Basic Members utilizing the club docks must adhere to the following simple guidelines:

  • Non-Motorized Craft Only: Our launch is strictly for human-powered craft. No motorized boats or jet skis are permitted.
  • Safety Gear Required: All members launching from our docks must possess a Transport Canada-approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and a sound signalling device (whistle) for their craft. We have a wide selection of Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), but feel free to bring your own if preferred.
  • Right of Way: Please be mindful of club programs in session. Youth camps and team boats maneuvering around the docks have the right of way.
  • No Overnight Storage: This membership provides launch privileges only. We do not currently offer overnight or seasonal storage for personal boats at the boathouse.

Basic Members can use the exterior club docks to launch their personal craft anytime during regular daylight hours, provided there is no major club regatta or special event actively closing the water access.
No! If you are registering for any full program (including youth camps, dragon boat, or adult endurance), your $50 Basic Membership fee is automatically bundled into your total cost at checkout. You can read more about this on our Memberships & Registration page.
