We Run on Volunteer Power

As a local, not-for-profit sports organization, the Collingwood Paddling Club simply could not exist without our volunteers. From the Board of Directors who steer the club’s future, to the parents who help run the BBQ at our summer regattas, volunteers are the lifeblood of our community.

Volunteering with the CPC is a fantastic way to get outdoors, meet your neighbors, and make a tangible impact on youth athletics and community health in Collingwood. We are always looking for extra hands, and we promise you will have a great time doing it!

High School Community Hours

Are you a local high school student looking to complete your mandatory Ontario Community Involvement Hours? The boathouse is the perfect place to do it! We offer plenty of fun, outdoor opportunities during the spring and summer that will help you gain leadership skills, build your resume, and earn your hours.

How You Can Help

Event & Regatta Support

Regattas and community events require a lot of coordination! We need volunteers to help with timing races, marshalling boats, running the food tent, taking photos, and directing parking. This is a highly flexible, single-day commitment.

Boathouse & Fleet Maintenance

Are you handy with tools, or just willing to roll up your sleeves? We host an Annual Spring Boathouse Clean-Up to get our facility ready for the season, and we always need help with minor boat repairs, painting, and facility upkeep throughout the summer.

On-Water Safety Boat Drivers

During regattas and busy training sessions, we need certified individuals to drive our motorized safety boats (tin boats) to ensure the safety of our paddlers. (Note: Must hold a valid Transport Canada PCOC and have experience operating small watercraft).

Board & Committees

Want to help shape the future of the club? We are always looking for professionals to join our volunteer Board of Directors or our fundraising committees. If you have skills in finance, marketing, or event planning, we need your expertise!

Volunteer Requirements

We want volunteering to be as easy and accessible as possible. For most roles (like event setup or boathouse cleaning), there are zero requirements – just show up with a smile!

However, because we are a youth-focused sports organization, safety is our top priority. Volunteers who will be working in direct, unsupervised contact with our youth athletes or summer campers may be required to complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check. If this is required for your specific volunteer role, the club will guide you through the quick and easy process!

Volunteer FAQs

Not at all! While some roles (like safety boat driving) require water experience, the vast majority of our volunteer needs are on land. If you can flip a burger, hold a stopwatch, or help sweep the boathouse, we need you!
It is entirely up to you! You can volunteer for a single 3-hour shift at a summer regatta, or you can take on a larger year-round role on our Board of Directors. We appreciate any time you can give.
Simply bring your school’s Community Involvement form with you to your volunteer shift. Once your shift is complete, a Board Member or the Head Coach will be happy to sign off on your hours.
Yes, absolutely! We love utilizing the unique talents of our community. If you are a photographer who wants to shoot a regatta, or a carpenter willing to help fix some boat racks, please email us directly.
